Iona College is a private catholic college in New Rochelle, New York. Founded in 1940, the smaller school has a campus spread of 45 acres, half an hour outside of New York City. Iona College offers more than 60 undergraduate programs and 45 graduate programs in the School of Arts & Science and the LaPenta School of Business. The school enrolls around 4000 students from a diverse range of backgrounds, the student body currently represents 35 states and 47 countries of origin.
The college is divided into two main academic units: a school of arts and science and a business school. Through it 22 academic departments, the School of Arts & Science offers more than 40 BA, BS and BPS degrees and more than 25 master's degrees, as well as several non-degree certificate programs. The Business school offers a fast track MBA program, which is geared toward people who want to gain an edge in their chosen field. The Fast Track MBA shaves 10 months off the length of traditional MBA programs by offering courses in a sequence that guarantees a speedy graduation. In their own words Iona recognises ‘the need to stay nimble in a fast changing world’, acting on this they developed the Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation; an interdisciplinary hub for the development of creativity and leadership skills critical for success in a global economy. Further, Iona’s study abroad program offers 14 different cultural immersion opportunities including semester programs in France, Italy and Ireland; summer programs in Italy, Spain and England; Spring programs in Greece, Netherlands and Poland.
Athletically Iona operates in the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), competing at the NCCA Division 1 level. They offer a range of sports to both male and female athletes, including basketball, soccer, rowing, lacrosse and track and field. They also have over 80 active clubs, Greek fraternities and sororities on campus.
